SYNTHESIS OF DERIVATIVES OF OXINE AND BENZIMIDAZOLES FOR ANTIAMEBIC AND OTHER BIOLOGICAL PROFILE

8-quinolinoxy acetic acid hydrazide (1) was reacted with various subst ituted aromatic aldehydes and ethy 8-quinolinoxy acetate with o-phenyl ene diamine to yield the corresponding azomethines (3) and benzimidazo le derivatives (6) respectively. 8-quinolinoxy acetyl chloride was rea cted with various sulphonamides to give the corresponding amides (2). Benzimidazole derivatives (5) were also obtained from aryloxy acetic a cids. Compounds thus prepared were screened for antiamoebic and other biological activities.
