Mr. Manrao et al., REACTION OF BENZONITRILE OXIDE WITH 3-ETHOXY-4-HYDROXYBENZAL ANILINESAND ANTIFUNGAL ACTIVITY OF THE PRODUCTS, Indian Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry, 5(2), 1995, pp. 151-152
Condensation of benzonitrile oxide, generated in situ, by the reaction
of triethylamine on hydroxamoyl chloride, with 3-ethoxy-4-hydroxy-ben
zalanilines has resulted in the formation of cycloadducts which have b
een identified and confirmed as 1,2,4-oxadiazoline derivatives on the
basis of elemental analysis and spectral studies. The products were te
sted in vitro for their antifungal activity and it has been observed t
hat the presence of ethoxy group in the phenyl ring increases the anti
fungal activity of the compounds.
