A. Robinson et al., OCULAR MANIFESTATION OF HAIRY-CELL LEUKEMIA WITH DRAMATIC RESPONSE TO2-CHLORO-DEOXY-ADENOSINE, American journal of ophthalmology, 121(1), 1996, pp. 97-99
PURPOSE: To demonstrate that hairy cell leukemia may involve the eye.
METHODS: We examined a patient who had a unique ocular manifestation o
f hairy cell leukemia with severe panuveitis in one eye and leukemic r
etinopathy in the fellow eye. RESULTS: Therapy with 2 chloro-deoxy-ade
nosine, a drug recently introduced for treatment of hairy cell leukemi
a, led to dramatic improvement of the ocular complications. CONCLUSION
S: Hairy cell leukemia may involve the eye and ocular symptoms may res
pond to systemic treatment with 2 chloro-deoxy-adenosine.
