Ms. Qatu, VIBRATION ANALYSIS OF CANTILEVERED SHALLOW SHELLS WITH TRIANGULAR ANDTRAPEZOIDAL PLANFORMS, Journal of sound and vibration, 191(2), 1996, pp. 219-231
The Ritz method with algebraic polynomials is used to present the firs
t known natural frequencies for cantilevered shallow shells having tri
angular and trapezoidal planforms. Detailed convergence studies showed
that relatively accurate results can be obtained. Comparisons with ex
perimental and analytical frequencies available in the literature for
cantilevered triangular plates are made. These comparisons show that t
he present method is superior to many other analytical methods used pr
eviously in plate vibration analysis. The lowest six frequencies are t
hen obtained for various set of shapes and curvatures of right triangu
lar and trapezoidal thin shallow shells. (C) 1996 Academic Press Limit
