Abstract
The theory of impact polarization is briefly reviewed. Spectropolarime try provides a tool ta derive the nature, the number flux, and the mai n characteristics of the angular velocity distribution function of ene rgetic particles accelerated in solar flares. As an example of applica tion of polarimetry the spatial and temporal characteristics of the li near polarization of the hydrogen Her line observed in a solar flare i s presented.
