S. Rae et al., NEW NUMERICAL-MODEL OF STIMULATED BRILLOUIN-SCATTERING IN OPTICAL FIBERS WITH NONUNIFORMITY, Optics communications, 123(4-6), 1996, pp. 611-616
A new numerical model which incorporates Brillouin shift frequency var
iations arising from fibre inhomogeneities has been developed for stim
ulated Brillouin scattering in optical fibres. This enables simulation
s of backscattered and transmitted power as functions of input power b
ased only on known physical and material parameters as well as the pol
arisation factor and the measured Brillouin gain linewidth for the fib
re. Agreement between modelled and experimental power characteristics
for a CW input is excellent.
