The kinetics of dismutation and conmutation reactions of chlorofluorom
ethanes of a CHCl3-nFn series have been studied on an activated gamma-
Al2O3 catalyst. First all chemical equilibria occurring in this system
were characterized. From the results of kinetic modeling it is obviou
s that the experimental data coincide with the calculated data only if
a disturbance of the adsorption equilibrium of the reactant CHCl2F an
d/or a higher order of reaction relating to the reactant CHClF2 are ta
ken into consideration. The conclusions drawn from the kinetic measure
ments are discussed in connection with a proposal for the mechanism.
