Abstract
A theory for the alloying behaviour of compound forming liquid binary alloys, in which the formation of two types of compounds is assumed in a quaternary mixture, is presented with in the framework of Bhatia et al.(1), Phys Rev B, 9 (1974) 435, and applied to study the liquid HgI n system. The calculation of G(M) and S-CC(0) is presented which revea ls that HgIn complex is more stable as compared to HgIn6. The results of G(M) and S-CC(0) are in good agreement with the experimental data.
