L. Chen et al., LIQUID-CRYSTALLINE POLYURETHANES WITH NOVEL ORGANOMETALLIC COMPLEXES, Journal of polymer science. Part A, Polymer chemistry, 34(5), 1996, pp. 721-728
A series of polyurethane organometallic complexes based on novel diols
, phenyl]methylene]hydroxylethyleneamino]-copper(II) (DBSICu), were sy
nthesized successfully. The products are elastomeric glassy materials
or powders. Similar to other polyurethane elastomers, these coordinati
on block copolymers exhibit 2-phase microstructure and thermoplastic p
roperties. It is interesting to note that some of these polyurethanes
show a Schlieren pattern under the polarizing optical microscope. The
liquid crystalline properties of DBSICu and the coordination polymers
are studied in detail in this study. (C) 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
