This paper describes how the circuit analysis package HSPICE can be us
ed to model an electrical resistance tomography system in two and thre
e dimensions. Reasons for developing an HSPICE model using discrete co
mponents are introduced followed by a discussion of the theory underly
ing this technique. Image reconstructions using a simplified back proj
ection algorithm are presented which simulate the movement of resistiv
e discontinuities through an electrode plane in an attempt to investig
ate process flows.
