Abnormal eustachian tube function has been a major problem in improvin
g hearing with middle ear surgery. In 13 patients, a newly developed g
old tube conductor was placed in the eustachian tube via the middle ea
r cavity. Patients were examined 2-50 months postoperatively, at which
time middle ear aeration was found to be significantly improved in 11
of the cases.
