SYSTEMATICS OF THE YIELDS OF TERNARY SPONTANEOUS FISSION

In ternary fission of a heavy nucleus, the formation of the two fragme nts is accompanied by the formation of a long-range light particle, us ually an alpha particle. Data on the yield of ternary spontaneous fiss ion are plotted against the half-life of the corresponding nucleus wit h respect to spontaneous fission. The systematics proposed here can be used to estimate the yield of ternary fission of spontaneously fissio ning isomers.
