ANALYSIS OF THE REACTION C-12(PI-11 AT ENERGY 199 MEV(,PI+P)B)

The mechanism of the reaction C-12(pi+,pi+ p)B-11 is analyzed by the d iagrammatic technique. It is shown that the main contribution to the a mplitude of the reaction comes from the pole and triangle diagrams whi ch describe the interaction in the initial and final states. It is con cluded that it is possible to describe the reaction in the eikonal app roximation, and that spectroscopic information obtained in the analysi s of this reaction, both by the diagrammatic technique and by the meth od of distorted waves, is unreliable. It is shown that the results obt ained by these two methods are similar.
