An investigation has been made of clustering of secondary particles in
inelastic pi- C and pi- p collisions (p(pi) = 40 GeV/c), pC and pTa c
ollisions (P(p) = 10 GeV/c), and pC, d C, alpha-C, and CC collisions (
p0 = 4.2 GeV/c per nucleon) found in photographs of a 2-m propane cham
ber. For this, a method of identifying clusters based on the use of th
e space of relative 4-velocities normalized to the same mass has been
proposed and developed. It was found that an appreciable fraction of t
he secondary particles (protons, pions) was produced by clusters. The
temperatures of the clusters depend on their rapidities, the highest t
emperatures being associated with clusters in the central region of th
e rapidity scale.
