Abstract
The recent double-ionization experiments (e, 3 - 1e) on argon by elect ron impact are, for the first time, investigated theoretically. Simple qualitative models and more elaborate theoretical calculations are pr oposed and discussed in order to understand the mechanism of double io nization at high electron impact.
