Abstract
This article describes preferred places of drinking and ways of obtain ing alcoholic beverages by 1,480 Jewish, Moslem, Christian and Druze a dolescent drinkers from 29 schools in 13 locations in the north of Isr ael in winter 1994. The pub is the primary source of alcohol for Jewis h adolescents, whereas the home is the main alcohol source for non-Jew ish teenagers. Most Jew and Druze teenagers obtain alcohol by themselv es. Most Moslems get their drinks from same-age friends. Most Christia ns get alcohol from their parents. This article presents gender and gr ade differences, as well as cultural-oriented suggestions for preventi ve initiatives.
