Doppler absorption measurements have been used to investigate time-sli
ce Mossbauer absorption spectroscopy for synchrotron radiation and a m
osaic resonant Bragg monochromator. The energy widths for wide time in
tervals and the time-dependent narrowing of the spectral width of reso
nant Bragg scattering from a mosaic (Fe2O3)-Fe-57 crystal have been me
asured using a powdered 9.7 mg/cm(2) (Fe2O3)-Fe-57 absorber. The measu
rements are compared with calculations for a thick (9.7 mg/cm(2)) and
a thin (0.5 mg/cm(2)) absorber, and the feasibility of high angular co
llimation neV range x-ray scattering spectroscopy using synchrotron ra
diation and time windowing is assessed.
