Abstract
This paper investigates extinction mechanisms about polarized optical microscopy (POM), which are classified into isotropic extinction, pseu do-isotropic extinction, general anisotropic extinction and depth-indu ced light extinction (DILE). Emphasis is made on the analysis of DILE and of the compensation mechanism especially, With this method, the hu lk spherulite of poly(ethylene oxide) is studied and the anisotropic f actor is measured.
