Novel anionic thermosensitive hydrogels were prepared by the copolymer
ization of N-isopropyl acrylamide(NIPA) with 3-sulfopropyl acrylate po
tassium salt(SPAP) as anionic monomer in the presence of methylene-bis
acrylamide (MBA). The hydrogels exhibit excellent thermosensitive beha
vior and high swelling properites, In the feed ratios varing from 1.0%
to 2.0% (molar ratio) SPAP content the hydrogels possess the volume r
atios of 27 similar to 38 and the sensitive temperatures varied from 3
5 degrees C to 38 degrees C , which are very close to the human body t
emperature, and very important for Drug Delivery Systems(DDS).
