A new method is presented of enhancing the organic electroluminescent
(EI,) efficiency by using poly (methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) as barrier
layers which play the role of controlling the electron-hole recombinat
ion in the organic EL materials. The organic EL device with one layer
of 8-hydroxyquinoline derivative-metal complexes (Alq3, Znq2) as the E
L-emitting layers, and two layers of EL emitting materials deposited o
n PMMA Langmuir-Blodgett films (PMMA/Alq3, PMMA/Znq2) sandwiched betwe
en indium/tin oxide (ITO) and aluminum electrodes have been fabricated
, respectively. The evidence reveals that the LB film takes an importa
nce to raising the 8-hydroxyquinoline derivative-metal complexes EL ef
ficiency.
