The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between rema
rriage and indicators of post-divorce co-parenting. A sample of 372 wo
men and 277 men contacted three years after their divorce was used. Ma
rital status was a statistically significant predictor for eight of th
e twelve regression analyses that were conducted for the women and men
. The regression equations indicated that remarriage was associated wi
th less frequent co-parental interaction, less reported parenting supp
ort from the former spouse, and more negative attitudes about the othe
r parent for both women and men; less parenting satisfaction and lower
levels of involvement in children's activities for remarried men. The
se findings are discussed and the relationship between remarriage and
post-divorce co-parenting is explored.
