Abstract
The main principles of the operation of fibre-optic tomographic sensor s are formulated. The ways in which they differ from the known tomogra phic analogues are considered. Potential capabilities, future developm ent trends, and applications of these sensors are discussed. A brief r eview is given of the literature on fibre-optic tomographic sensors. T he main parameters of the constructed sensors and some results of expe rimental investigations of scalar and vector physical fields are given .
