Two-dimensional numerical calculations were made in a study of heat-co
nduction and hydrodynamic equalisation of the asymmetry of heating and
compression of 'laser greenhouse' targets. It is shown that small-sca
le perturbations become equalised by the high thermal conductivity and
by transverse shock waves in the absorber component of a target. It i
s proposed to use working targets with a surface relief for compensati
ng the strong heating asymmetry associated with coupling of laser radi
ation through apertures in a working target.
