Abstract
New laser crystals were prepared from potassium-rare-earth tungstates KY(WO4)(2) and KGd(WO4)(2) activated with Pr3+ ions. Flashlamp pumping at room temperature resulted in low-threshold pulsed and quasi-cw gen eration of stimulated radiation in the neodymium range of wavelengths (1.06-1.07 mu m, D-1(2) --> F-3(4) lasing channel).
