SYNTHESIS AND SPECTRAL INVESTIGATIONS ON THE TELLUROAMINE COMPLEXES OF CO(II AND III) AND CU(I AND II)

The first examples of telluroamine-1-(NMe2)-2-(TeAr)-4-Me-C6H3 (L) (Ar =4-EtO-C6H4) complexes of cobalt(III) and copper(II) of the type [Co(L )2 Br2]BPh4 and [Cu(L)2Br]BPh4 have been synthesized by air oxidation of mixtures of their anhydrous bromides, ligand and NaBPh4 in nitromet hane. The complexes of cobalt(II) and copper(I) with the ligand have a lso been synthesized under dinitrogen atmosphere. AU these complexes h ave been characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weight and mol ar conductance measurements, magnetic moment and spectral data (ESR, I R, UV-Vis, H-1 and Co-59 NMR).
