The electrodynamical response of single crystals of the quasi-two-dime
nsion;il organic metal alpha-(BEDT-TTF)(2)NH4Hg(SCN)(4) has been studi
ed in the frequency range 50-100 GHz in magnetic fields of up to 15 T,
and at temperatures down to 1.5 K. The experiments were carried out u
sing the cavity perturbation technique; the cavity was rectangular, al
lowing the high-frequency currents in the sample to be excited in two
different geometries. A prominent feature attributed to cyclotron reso
nance was observed, corresponding to a cyclotron mass of (1.9 +/- 0.2)
m(e). The electrodynamical response of the samples also exhibited magn
etic quantum oscillations and an ESR/EPR signal.
