The metallic copper powder was oxidized by dibenzoyl peroxide in the p
resence of 2-aminothiazol in acetone resulting in the copper (I) compl
ex [Cu-2 (C5H5COO)(4) (C3H1N2S)(2)]. Crystal of the complex belongs to
monoclinic, space group P2(1)/n, with the crystal cell parameters: a=
1.0685(1) nm, b=1.9028(6) nm, c=1.7046(9) nm; alpha=gamma=90 degrees,
beta=96.49(3)degrees, V=3.443(4) nm(3), Z=4, F(000)=824, D-c=1.5558 g/
cm(3), mu=14.078 cm(-1), R=0.04821, R(W)=0.05314. The complex was also
characterized by elementary analysis, IR, X-ray powder diffraction, a
nd TG.
