REGIONAL DISPARITIES IN THE SUPPLY OF RES IDENTIAL CARE FACILITIES FOR OLD-PEOPLE

This article analyzes the supply of residential care facilities for ol d people in Germany with the aim to discover regional disparities. The analysis is based on the directory of residential institutions for ol d people (Altenheimadressbuch). On a national level the supply of resi dential care facilities in this data base is comparable with the resul ts of the national statistic (Heimplatzstatistik). The results show co nsiderable disparities that only to a minor extent coincide with the r egional distribution of older people. Although there is no definite co herence between the supply of residential care facilities and the fami ly care potential, there is a significant negative correlation between both.
