Abstract
The 'data explosion' brought on by electronic sensors and automatic sa mplers can strain the capabilities of existing water-quality data-mana gement systems just when they're needed most to process the informatio n. The U.S. Geological Survey has responded to the problem by setting up an innovative system that allows rapid data analysis.
