Ps. Bates et al., SELECTIVE BINDING AND DETECTION OF ONIUM IONS BY LIPOPHILIC NEUTRAL CYCLODEXTRINS, Journal of the Chemical Society, Chemical Communications, (8), 1993, pp. 691-693
Lipophilic peroctylated alpha-, beta- and gamma-cyclodextrins exhibit
good selectivity and cation discrimination in the binding of NH4+, NMe
4+ and NEt4+ ions respectively; sensors based on peroctyl beta-CD show
excellent sensitivity and selectivity for NMe4+ over metal cations, a
nd may be used for the selective detection of acetyl choline and catio
nic surfactants.
