Abstract
The extraction of urban road networks from satellite sensor images wit h a fine spatial resolution is difficult because of the disturbances g enerated by buildings and parking lots, the existence of intersections and sharp curves, and the diversity of road widths. The present study proposes a procedure for this task and the result extracted from a SP OT HRV panchromatic image. The proposed method can adequately detect n ot only straight roads of various widths but also sharp curved roads a nd intersections.
