Abstract
Titanium is a metal well known for its orientation memory effect but i t does not possess shape memory. In this study, the martensitic transf ormation of titanium has been studied in situ and in real time by sync hrotron x-ray topography. The transformation has been compared to the thermoelastic transformation of the shape memory alloy CuZnAl. The pse udothermoelasticity of titanium has been displayed.
