Abstract
The influence of the genetic background of a plant on the antibacteria l activity of essential oils derived from it was investigated. Essenti al oils from six distinct strains of Cymbopogon were tested against ei ghteen bacteria. Interspecific and intraspecific differences were evid ent in the antibacterial activity of the essential oils derived from t he six Cymbopogon strains.
