Qp. Zhong et E. Matijevic, PREPARATION OF UNIFORM ZINC-OXIDE COLLOIDS BY CONTROLLED DOUBLE-JET PRECIPITATION, Journal of materials chemistry, 6(3), 1996, pp. 443-447
A new and simple method for the preparation of uniform zinc oxide coll
oidal particles of different morphologies by controlled double-jet pre
cipitation is described. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffra
ction data indicate that the solids generated under different conditio
ns have identical crystallite structures, although they are internally
composite. The growths of the subunits and of the particles themselve
s follow different patterns. Particles formed in the presence of a sur
factant (sodium dodecyl sulfate) exhibit essentially the same overall
characteristics, but the particles are microporous.
