We study current fluctuations in a single tunnel junction. The effect
of external leads and of the Coulomb interaction is incorporated in th
e calculation. We obtain the fluctuations at the tunneling barrier of
the junction and at the leads. It is shown that the two fluctuations h
ave different noise spectra, and that the relation between them is non
trivial. The origin of the difference is discussed and the results are
compared with recent experiments.
