Abstract
Adsorption, surface migration, and superlattice formation of c(4x2)-be nzene molecules on Pd(110) have been studied by scanning tunneling mic roscopy at the temperature range from 100 to 300 K. The adsorption sit e of benzene is determined to be a fourfold hollow site of the Pd(110) (1x1) surface. Above similar to 220 K benzene molecules start to migra te on the surface, and the migration barrier along [001] is estimated to be about 0.57 eV (55 kJ mol(-1)).
