Abstract
Compared with other natural cellulosic fibers, ramie's handle is harsh and rigid and its elastic recovery is poor. Ramie's undesirable prope rties affect its performance and comfort during wear. A considerable a mount of work has been done at our Institute to ameliorate the undesir able properties of ramie and ramie-blended products by modifying the c hemical structure and surface properties.
