A narrow passageway of Rochelot cave containing an accumulation of mam
malian bones dating to a temperate period prior to an early Wurmian pl
eniglacial (end of Oxygen Isotope stage 5) contains human remains. The
composition and taphonomic study identify hyena as the agent of this
accumulation. Six human teeth could belong to the same individual, a N
eandertal brought into the cave by hyena.
