Abstract
The first total synthesis of the racemic compound is described. 2-hydr oxy-4-methylacetophenone uas used as starting material and transformed into the target molecule in 6 steps. The synthetic Turmeronol B displ ays spectral properties identical to those reported for the natural co mpound leading to the confirmation of the proposed structure.
