Np. Gregersen et P. Bjurulf, YOUNG NOVICE DRIVERS - TOWARDS A MODEL OF THEIR ACCIDENT INVOLVEMENT, Accident analysis and prevention, 28(2), 1996, pp. 229-241
There are two main purposes of this article. The first is to present a
model of young drivers' accident involvement, including the most impo
rtant processes in the development of their driving behaviour. The mod
el describes the relations between the learning process, the individua
l preconditions and the social influence and how these are related to
driving behaviour and accident involvement through different processes
such as skill acquisition, self assessment, information processing, f
eedback and motivation. The second purpose is to present a state-of-th
e-art report for the different aspects of the model by referring to so
me of the literature on young drivers.
