Abstract
The collectins are proteins with collagen tails and globular lectin do mains that appear to play an important role in mammalian first line ho st defense. Recent insights have clarified the structural basis of lig and recognition, the interactions of collectins with complement cascad es, and the association with disease susceptibility.
