Abstract
The testing facility used for simulation procedures of the thermomecha nical history of continuously cast slabs before the straightening oper ation is described. The tests were made on in situ solidified specimen s to reproduce the continuously cast microstructure and to follow the temperature history of the continuous casting process. The basic princ iple and procedure of the test are explained. The hot ductility curves and microstructures obtained are discussed for the approximate temper ature range 700 to 1100 degrees C. Results are compared with one anoth er and with other tensile test data.
