INSIGHTS INTO GROWTH-MECHANISM OF SILVER-HALIDE TABULAR CRYSTALS - FURTHER CONSIDERATION OF POSTPRECIPITATION EFFECTS AND THE ROUGH SMOOTH TWIN STRUCTURE

The generation of {100}/{111} rough-smooth twin structures during the
precipitation of silver halide tabular crystals is contrasted with pos
sible changes that may have accompanied the postprecipitation processe
s. We conclude that the driving force for the generation of rough-smoo
th twin structures observed in cryosections is the energetics of the g
rowth process at the twin boundaries during precipitation.
