Abstract
Measurements were performed to get the response of arrester block to s teep front impulse current(1/2 mu sec), 4/10 mu sec impulse current an d standard impulse (8/20 mu sec). A's the steep front wave response mo del, the conventional model, IEEE model, and nonlinear inductance mode l have been studied. The method of building arrester block model was e xplained in this paper. The nonlinear inductance model proposed in thi s paper has accuracy with about 1% error in calculations of steep fron t impulse in block model study. This model can be built easily and sim ply.
