The currently accepted method for Cl-2 analysis in ClO2 solution, CPPA
J14P, has been found to have small interferences, of the order of +/-
0.05 g/L. When trying to accurately gauge the efficiency of an R8 or
SVP-MeOH* at Cl-2 levels of 0.15 to 0.05 g/L, this +/- 0.05 g/L repr
esents a relative error of between 33 and 100%. This can lead to an ef
ficiency error of between 2 and 4%. The nature of the interferences is
described, and then an accurate method to determine Cl-2, useable at
the mill site, is presented.
