Abstract
For describing the growth of several beef cattle breeds in the first i nstance a qualified set of growth functions is determinated. The resul ts of parameter and residual variance estimations for these growth fun ctions and the existing data sets allow together with some previous kn owledge the choice of a growth function which is also optimal with res pect to a developed optimum criterion.
