Abstract
We examine the detection of the intermediate-mass Higgs (IMH) boson at the CERN LHC through the associate production channel pp--> t (t) ove r bar HX -->/gamma gamma X'. It is shown that by applying kinematic cu ts or b tagging on the final state jets, the main backgrounds of W(--> lv)+ gamma+ gamma+(n-jet) can be reduced substantially without signifi cant loss of signals. It is possible to detect the IMH boson at the LH C through the pp-->t (t) over bar HX channel using a modest photon det ector with mass resolution similar to 3% of the photon pair invariant mass.
