Prenatal sonographic diagnosis of an unusual case of a large left cong
enital diaphragmatic hernia is presented. The fetal stomach was locate
d within the right thorax, posterior to the dextropositioned heart. Co
lor and pulsed Doppler ultrasonography documented intrathoracic umbili
cal vein and ductus venosus vessels and respective waveforms, confirmi
ng extensive herniation of the left hepatic lobe.
