The purpose of this report is to describe a culturally, sensitive appr
oach to cognitive-behavioral case formulation and treatment of depress
ion and panic disorder in a Central American woman. Cognitive-behavior
al models of depression and panic disorder are reviewed, including sup
porting empirical evidence, and then a culturally sensitive approach t
o case formulation is described beginning with a brief overview of be
Central American experience as well as strategies for doing outreach t
o Latinos based on their mental health and medical service utilization
patterns. Finally, strategies for engaging Latino clients in therapy
and for applying specific cognitive-behavioral interventions are prese
