We measured the normal state Fermi surface of a Pb0.42Bi1.73Sr1.94Ca1.
3Cu1.92O8+x(001) single crystal using angle resolved photoemission. Ou
r experimental approach allows us to see the full topology and symmetr
y of this essentially two-dimensional system. The geometrical structur
e is probed using x-ray photoelectron diffraction and transmission ele
ctron microscopy. Structural effects on Fermi surface features are dis
cussed. Moreover, a series of energy distribution curves is measured f
or an azimuthal scan of emission angles and a quantitative analysis of
the bands crossing the Fermi level is given.
